Wall Transparency & Shadows

I've been trying to come up with a solution where I could see shadows in a model "while using a section box to cut away a portion of a building". The problem is that as soon as you turn off an object or use a section box, the shadows are no longer cast because Revit doesn't "see" the object as being there anymore...
This post does not solve the issue and it appears that it can't be done, but I did run across something pretty interesting. Check this out...

Walls with multiple layers and shadows showing:

Make the exterior layer (brick) Transparent: (any amount will do)

You can see thru the wall when looking thru the brick, but you can't when looking the other direction (thru the gyp). WOW!!
Also notice, that since the sun is hitting the gyp side of the wall, the shadows still are cast.

Here is a view looking toward the inside of the walls. Notice that you can't see thru the walls because that material has no transparancy. Only the brick does...

If I give the interior material (gyp) transparency as well, you can now see thru the walls similar to when we were looking from the exterior in, BUT the shadows are no longer cast (except for the edges which is sort of weird). Bummer...
